Dark Sky Community Meeting

Come spend an evening with neighbors who care about keeping our nights naturally dark and our stars bright. Whether you’re already an advocate, a brand-new member, or just curious about what all this “dark sky” business is about, we’d love to have you with us for this first big gathering.
We’ll kick things off with a relaxed welcome and a look at who we are and why preserving the night matters so much here on the Peninsula. From there, we’ll walk through the major issues we’re facing — everything from skyglow to wildlife impacts — and introduce the Five Principles of Responsible Outdoor Lighting, the simple, science-backed framework that guides all our work.
You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes peek at the projects and campaigns we’ve got underway, plus the many small, practical things anyone can do at home: lighting assessments, easy fixture fixes, motion-sensor swaps, letter writing, volunteering… you name it. And if you’re interested in becoming a member, an advocate, or both, this is the perfect place to start that journey.
We’ll wrap up with a laid-back Q&A so you can ask whatever’s been on your mind — safety myths, neighbor-to-neighbor conversations, energy savings, wildlife impacts, or even how to get your own backyard glowing a little less and the constellations shining a little more.
Come learn, connect, and help us protect the night. We’d really love to see you there!
Let us know you’re coming – RSVP through Eventbrite.
